AT&T 2wire networks lack of proper security

Lately I have been seeing an increasing number of AT&T 2wire networks appearing all around me and it worries me. Not because of AT&t Deathstar like mass closing in but however the vulnerability of these networks. Each 2Wire networks default settings as the come setup by AT&T or out of the box is so bad that someone can easily compromise someones entire network in a matter of minutes
