Make your PC run as fast as new
There could be several hardware-related reasons for a slow computer. For example, the processor, the brain of your computer, may be too slow to run today’s demanding software. It may drag along if you have several programs running simultaneously. Then, there is RAM — the temporary memory the computer uses to do its calculations. If you do not have enough RAM, your programs will run slowly.

I am about to purchase my first laptop, a Gateway NV5214u. Its my first PC aside from an old, almost unusable desktop. Ive grown up a Mac user and I am going into my sophomore year of high school. I really dont know much about these operating systems. I get a free upgrade to Windows 7 but to me (someone who is not too PC savvy) what are the major and/or noticeable differences between Windows Vista and Windows 7?

I have a rather new laptop, and I was wondering if it would be easy to upgrade to windows 7 from windows vista?
Also, would windows 7 run smoothly on my laptop?
I have a 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo processor and 4gb ram.
Would 7 work ok with my computer?
Would it be hard to install windows 7 (I have never installed an operating system before)?
Thanks
oh, and if I upgrade, will i lose all of my files?

I’m trying to install Windows 7 and it says it will restart multiple times doing so. Well, when it restarts, my computer asks me to press any key to load from CD/DVD, and Windows 7 starts over.
Why?

I have Windows 7 Evaluation Copy build 7100 currently installed. I upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to this Windows 7. What I’m asking is that when Windows 7 is officially released on October 22, can I upgrade from this version to the retail version without having to reformat? Meaning I won’t lose everything on my hard drive?

A while ago I received the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade for HP. I opted out of doing a clean install and upgraded instead. However, my computer is now glitching constantly, and I want to do a clean install over my upgraded version of Windows 7.
I’ve lost the upgrade disk, but I still have the disk envelope which has a product key on the back. Is there a way to launch the Windows 7 installation process without a disk? If so, how?
Thank you!
