I want to start up a small business computer repair and networking business and I want to avoid making common mistakes since I need this venture to be successful and I need money to start coming in fast as I am rapidly nearing a foreclosure on my condo which I have only been in for less than a year.
Also if anyone has any tips based on experience in Information Technology small business or any other small business tips please share them! Thanks!

I have a Dell server and 7 workstations + 3 printers. We are planning on getting a static ip address so we can access the server and other workstations remotley, also we need to have the printers on the network. i am confused if i need to buy a static ip address for each equipment or if i can just get one static ip address and assign it to the router then have the router assign an ip address for each equipment and in this case would the router assign a static ip address to the stations and server or is it gonna be dynamic…

I have internet paid for by my company. Normally, the cable modem is attached directly to a VPN then to the business computer. I stuck a wireless router in between the cable modem and the VPN to access the internet on my private laptop. Now my company does monitor activity on the business computer, but can they see what I do on my private laptop which is not connected to the VPN? For example like bank accounts and passwords etc..

I own a company that drops lines for computer and phone networks, patch panels, wireless network setup, and basically anything IT related.
I don’t know how to classify this business. Is it computer communications, telecommunications, IT services..or what?
And who should I target to get new business? Do general contractors use these services or is it the end user, the company that used the general contractor to set up their business?
