You’d have to buy the OS CD. It would be a complete waste of money, because your only “upgrading” from Win7 HP it would be cheaper but, Ultimate isn’t alot better, and depending of the Specs of your laptop would run slower

not the upgrade, you will need the full install. The upgrade is for computers that all ready have windows installed.

I already have my computers set up a certain way and don’t want anything to change – as far as the display goes. All my shortcut icons are set up and arranged in a very efficient way for myself so I don’t have to search for certain files/folders. Will upgrading to Windows 7 screw this up?

There is an option upon installing to just keep your files intact and installing the upgrade. So, it should not affect your desktop or files.

Ok I have windows vista but I want windows 7. So I am planning on getting windows 7 on release date. Now I have never upgraded a computer before and I just bought my laptop in august 2009. How do I successfully upgrade without losing my stuff like:
Sims 3 data, Office and school documents, music for Zune HD, and programs I downloaded to my computer.
Can I just upgrade and everything will be fine? Please help!

I would create a backup to be safe, but just install Windows 7 normally and it should keep your files… I’ve never tried it though…

Right now I have Windows Xp and I thought it was time to upgrade my computer to Windows 7 but when i looked for the operating system there were posts that said Windows 7 Ultimate – Upgrade and
Windows 7 Ultimate – Full. Is the upgrade only for Vista? Which one should i get?

First, don’t get Ultimate – go for professional. Unlike XP and Vista the top versions do not have features that a home user really wants. There are no added goodies you want and performance is the same.
Basically the difference is with Upgrade you must have an existing license for a Windows OS. Since you have XP then you are good to go. The downside is if you have to reinstall it is a little more difficult. Especially if you want to move it to another PC. You can do “clean” install (format your machine and then install through custom install) but takes a few tricks.
Full install doesn’t require an existing O/S but it will let a person upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. There is no direct XP upgrade regardless of the edition you buy.

I am using Windows XP and I am considering getting Windows 7. I have been shopping online and I have found Windows 7 and Windows 7 Upgrade. When I think of an upgrade, I think of it as something to improve something that I already have. Is this the case with Windows 7 Upgrade? Is it an improvement on Windows 7? If so, why hasn’t the upgrade been integrated with the Windows 7 software?

Upgrade to Windows 7

1. Choose your edition of Windows 7

Hi,
I am in the market for a new wireless router. If anyone could recommend me the best or one of the best wireless routers out there that would be appreciated. I have heard of brief things such as dual band and etc. I heard the AIRPORT express was good , but didn’t offer enough Ports of some sort.
Currently i have a older Linksys Wireless G router. On my Network i have a desktop, 2 Laptops one a macbook, the other windows laptops both with wireless N cards built inside.
Along with the laptops i have a PS3 that connects wireless, and a wireless hardrive.
Whenever i try to stream music from the wireless hard-drive i can easily say that it takes a bit of time to access and play the music or files from my laptop.
Also in about a week or so i am getting cable. They advertise up to 15Mbps.
Currently i have up to 3Mbps with DSL. Do you think my current router will bottle neck the speed i receive on my wireless devices?
Also can anyone please explain to me how you can determine the speed you will download at based on the Internet service providers claim?
How many KB/SEC can i expect to download if advertised speed is 15Mbps.
Also how does the relation work with routers. As new ones i have noticed claim 300Mbps with wireless N technology, and wireless G is 54Mbps.

Thank you. So each and every router should i always assume real throughput should be half of what they claim?
So 300Mbps router i should expect real throughput to be 150Mbps. Which would be a lot of extra room for the router to handle a faster connection.
Also how did you figure out the KB/SEC with a steady connection of 15Mbps. Do you divide anything.

I have a rather new laptop, and I was wondering if it would be easy to upgrade to windows 7 from windows vista?
Also, would windows 7 run smoothly on my laptop?
I have a 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo processor and 4gb ram.
Would 7 work ok with my computer?
Would it be hard to install windows 7 (I have never installed an operating system before)?
